Peter Booth, a Llanrwst and Trefriw postman, his wife Nia and their son Owen are a popular family in the town.

Peter has acted as flood warden for the town in past years and his son Owen is a keen footballer for Llanrwst Juniors and plays rugby for Nant Conwy under 14s.

Nia has suffered illness since the age of 13, beginning with Scoliosis, an abnormal curvature of the spine which required the insertion of a metal rod to support her spine. This infirmity results in constant pain for her.

In 2004, she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, which following treatment has left her with epilepsy.  A further cancerous grade 3 brain tumour was discovered in 2010.  Her epilepsy is now managed with medication but remains as petit mal, a complaint that means she suffers from short absence seizures.

Recently, Nia suffered an absence which resulted in a fall down stairs and broke her hip.  She is currently in hospital in Llandudno where she is being treated for this condition but is also awaiting the results of a further brain scan.

Friend of the family, Olwen John said: “In order for her to come home there is need for specialist equipment to help with her care.  In particular, she needs a special bed and stair lift.

“Funding requests have been made to local groups and there are a series of local fundraising events being organised in Llanrwst and Trefriw, including a darts competition at the Red Lion and an indoor car boot sale.”

The indoor car boot sale is on Saturday, March 21, at Church House, Watling Street, Llanrwst from 9am until 1pm.  Refreshments will be served throughout the morning including bacon rolls.

There will be a cake stall, craft stalls and tombola in addition to the usual car booters.

To book a stall or make a contribution contact Olwen John on 07551327509.

Olwen added: “Support for this lovely family would be greatly appreciated.”
