Gwynedd’s Communities 1st programme recently hosted a family fun day at the Youth and Community Centre on the Maesgeirchen estate in Bangor.

Over 100 local children took part in a range of arts and crafts activities as well as enjoying the bouncy castle provided. Free refreshments were a welcome addition as was the fantastic June weather.

The event also provided residents with an opportunity to get a first glance the inside of the refurbished centre. Gwynedd Communities 1st and the Youth Service have worked together to redecorate the centre and further work is underway to upgrade the IT facilities.

The centre will now be open to local residents every Wednesday and Friday as part of the Communities 1st drop-in sessions.

All local residents are welcome to call in to get help with finding work, brushing up on digital skills, signing-up for a range of free training courses as well as help with budgeting and managing money. Residents are also welcome to pop in during the weekly Wednesday and Friday sessions for a free cup of tea or coffee and a chat.

The main hall in the building is also available completely free of charge during the two days for any community activities that will benefit local residents. The Communities 1st team would love to hear from anybody that is interested in working with them to run sport, fitness, craft or hobby sessions or even interested in running a fundraising coffee morning.
