Sony 4K Camcorder FDR AX100E AC Adaptor-Charger connects directly to the the camcorder and this feature can cause the camcorder battery to overheat when not in use. I’d much rather use a desktop charger as battery explosions can occur especially when the batteries used are not designed by Sony for 4K FDR AX100 Camcorder.
One of the benefits of using a desktop charger is if the battery explodes is your camcorder won’t be contaminated with acid from the battery and it’s certainly much cheaper to replace the charger than the camcorder itself.
