Aled Jones is set to return to his roots next month

Over thirty years since he burst onto the music scene, Aled Jones will be returning to the place where it all began.

Aled has been touring Wales, Scotland and England with his ‘Cathedrals Tour’ since May, and has performed in 21 Cathedrals. The final concert of his tour on July 2 (6.30pm), is back where it all began for him, Bangor Cathedral.

Aled will be singing some items from his recent album, One Voice, which is still top of the classical album charts. It also reached number 3 in the pop album charts, outselling artists such as Justin Bieber and Zayn Malik for a week!

Speaking about the tour at its launch, Aled said, ‘I’m never more at home than when performing in one of the UK’s unrivalled cathedrals. I have been fortunate to sing in so many of these beautiful buildings over the years through my work on Songs of Praise but the idea of embarking on my biggest cathedral tour ever next year fills me with so much excitement and joy.”

At the concert in Bangor Cathedral, Aled will also be singing with the girls and boys who are the Cathedral’s present choristers.

Looking forward to the concert, Bangor Cathedral’s Director of Music said, ‘The girls and boys of the Choir are so excited about this opportunity to sing with Aled Jones. They all know who he is, what he has achieved and how, for him, it all began here in our own Cathedral. It will be a memorable evening.’

The concert will also feature Julia Clarke, the classical crossover soprano from Northern Ireland.
