People from Bangor and the surrounding communities are being encouraged to take part in a charity Santa Dash, which forms part of the ‘People of Bangor Community Group’ Christmas celebration.

The Santa Dash, organised by Rebecca Williams, wife of current cancer patient Irfon Williams, has been organised to raise money for the #teamirfon campaign in aid of the Alaw Unit, where Irfon continues to receive treatment as he battles bowel cancer.

The hugely popular charity campaign has raised an astonishing £50,000 for the Alaw Unit in a little over six months, with thousands of people from communities in Gwynedd and Anglesey organising fundraising events to support the campaign.

The one mile Santa Dash starts and finishes at the clock in Bangor on Saturday, December 6.

All runners will receive a medal, and prizes will be awarded for the child in the best festive fancy dress, and the child who collects the most sponsorship money.

Organiser Rebecca Williams said: “ The Santa Dash is a brilliant way for individuals of all ages and abilities to have some festive fun and at the same time raising awareness and money for local cancer services.”

Following the Santa Dash Bangor High Street’s Christmas lights will be officially switched on.

The Santa Dash costs £5,00 for adults (14 years+), £2.50 for children, and is free for children aged five years and under.
