A local group of musicians and singers performing music and songs from the West End have raised £8,500 for their local adult hospice.

The Llandudno Show Players, who perform at Holy Trinity Church, Llandudno, have generously donated to the St David’s Hospice Bed Appeal helping the charity to reach their target.

The group, which meets every Wednesday from April to October for the last 18 years, donates all the profits from their shows to charity.

Roger Gleave, Chairman of the Llandudno Show Players said: “It is an absolute pleasure to raise funds for St David’s Hospice. This donation is part of over £12,000 that we have given to local charities raised from last year’s performances. We are all very proud with our achievement.”

Last year, St David’s Hospice celebrated 15 years of opening its doors to the first patients and launched its ‘Buy a Bed Appeal’.

Communications Officer at St David’s Hospice, Marie Lidgett explained: “In 2014, we made a commitment to replace all the beds in our Inpatient unit. The local community have supported the appeal tremendously raising over £71,000, enabling us to buy ten specialist beds and profiling mattresses.

It means so much to those for whom we care and their loved ones who will know that their friend or relative is as comfortable as possible during their stay with us at St David’s.”

St David’s Hospice provides free end of life care to adult patients, with a life-limiting illness, from Anglesey, Gwynedd and Conwy.

It is a registered charity, serving all of North West Wales and based in Llandudno.www.stdavidshospice.org.uk
