Lead singer Mike Peters, a two times cancer survivor got everyone rocking, but also found the time to talk movingly about his latest campaign By Your Side/Wrth Dy Ochr.

On the Saturday night, a reception was held to highlight the cause in the Deganwy Room at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

He spoke glowingly about the support he he and his family has received from Alaw ward staff and doctors at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

And with statistics revealed today that one in two people are now likely to suffer from cancer, he spoke about how important these services are and will be for future generations.

The By Your Side Campaign aims to make sure that people with cancer in North Wales and their families have the very best support every step of the way, from diagnosis to post treatment care.

A target of £351,120. 351,120 has been set, which is the distance in feet from Ysbyty Gwynedd to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd to Wrexham Maelor.

The campaign was launched through the ‘Big Busk’ in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, and Ysbyty Wrexham Maelor on November 20, 2014. The £1,078.16 raised at the Big Busk will fund special books for children from across North Wales to help them deal with a family member’s diagnosis

A £40,000 donation through Mike’s charity Love, Hope Strength and the £75,000 pledge of support from RVS will support the improvements to the facilities on the Alaw Unit which are due to start in April 2015, with the latter paying for the disabled toilets, assisted shower and the out patients waiting room and reception.

The total pledged and raised through By Your Side so far sits at £128,000.

The campaign aims to have fundraising activities each month, January was Janu-hairy, with Mike trying to grow a beard and then have it shaved off at the end of the month. Others also joined him and the event raised over £2,000.

This month, Febru-weary, a number of schools in North Wales will be invited to take part in a dress-down Green Day.

In June, the annual Snowdon Rocks event will see Mike trek up Snowdon with a number of supporters, stopping to play music along the way and raising money for By Your Side.

This year,  the aim is also to have music events in Llanberis, Beddgelert and Waunfawr on the day of Snowdon Rocks.

More details about Snowdon Rocks will be revealed here on Wales Express closer to the date.
