An exciting new venture has arrived in Pwllheli. ‘Siop Yard’ is a partnership of three local artists who currently have a shop and workshop on Palace Street, Caernarfon. They have opened a second shop next door to Trespass on Gaol Street, Pwllheli.

The official launch of ‘Siop Yard Pwllheli’ is on Saturday, July 11, at noon celebrating this new development for ‘Yard’ with a glass of summer punch or Cwrw Llŷn and a tune from Dave Stephen’s acoustic guitar set. There will also be an opportunity to win unique art work and jewellery.

“We hope to bring a summer party atmosphere to ‘Siop Yard Pwllheli’ and Gaol Street, Pwllheli. We have invited three young jewellers to be a part of the new shop. Come welcome and meet the artists, our new young jewelers; Charlotte Bellis, who creates porcelain jewellery and sculpture, Lora Wyn, who works with enamel and Elin Roberts, known as ‘Janglerins’, who makes silver jewellery,” said Ann Catrin Evans, sculptor and maker of mixed metal jewellery.

The shop in Caernarfon was opened two years ago. All the jewellery and art work are made in the workshop at the back of the shop. The same model will be applied in Pwllheli. Artists Ann Catrin Evans, Angela Evans and Dave Stephen are supporters of young Welsh artists creating high-end products in a unique selling environment.

“At Pwllheli ‘Yard’ can expand to welcoming three young artists to join our enterprise, Charlotte, Lora Wyn and Elin will work onsite in Pwllheli and the shop will stock work from all six artists.” said Dave, slate artist and musician.

Promoting high-end craft is all in a day’s work for the three local artisans who collaborated to bring their work to the ‘High Street’. They also have and extensive programme of craft courses, around 40 a year. Their new programme will be launched at the end of July on their website siopiard.com.

“We understand that shoppers want more; they are looking for great local products and an interesting experience. Come and join us on Saturday for ‘Summer Punch’ and Cwrw Llŷn and music, and learn a little more about our work and our craft courses,” says Angela Evans, sterling silver and mixed-media jeweller.

The official opening of Siop Yard Pwllheli takes place on Saturday, 11th July, between 12pm and 3pm. Dave Stephen will be playing an acoustic set at 1.30pm.
