Headlining Pink Floyd tribute band The Floyd Effect will be heading to Colwyn Bay on November 25.
Having played for many years to great acclaim at venues all across the country, garnering numerous ovations throughout their two-and-a-half hour concerts, the band is clearly excited to be returning.
“We’ve performed concerts from Penzance to Newcastle, from Cardigan Bay to Ipswich, and almost everywhere in between”, says Cambridge-based keyboard player Gordon Reid, “but Theatr Colwyn is one of our favourite venues.
“We love the character and the history of the building, and we feel very privileged to be returning.”
“This year, we’ll be performing our Toward The Dark Side And Beyond show, which includes many of Pink Floyd’s most iconic tracks from Meddle to The Division Bell, including our signature performance of Dark Side Of The Moon – complete and unbroken, exactly as it was meant to be.
“In fact, we’ve only three more performances of this show left, which means that it will be one of our last chances to play some of our favourite Pink Floyd tracks before we retire them to make room for some more of our favourite Pink Floyd tracks in 2018.”
“Fans of Pink Floyd know every nuance of their music”, adds bassist Garry Tyrrell, whose company Sandarac Productions handles The Floyd Effect. “They would know instantly if we failed to capture an arrangement, a solo, or even a mood correctly, so we owe it to them to get everything right. It helps that everyone in the band loves the music of Pink Floyd as much as the audience does.”
With a powerful show that includes lights, lasers, projections and the iconic circular screen, The Floyd Effect has been touring for ten years, not only in theatres up and down the country, but also attending and headlining tribute festivals.
Reviews of their shows are unequivocal – “as good as, if not better than, listening to the original albums”, “better than anything I’ve ever experienced by the actual (and rightfully deified) Floyd themselves”, and “the most musically talented tribute band ever. Un-bloody-believable”.
